Budget Rent A Car in George Town, George Town - Don't Rent From Budget

We rented a car in Grand Cayman for 10 days. To begin our rental car odyssey we spent a full hour at the counter because a.) the computer network they were on was either down or not functioning properly, and b.) the young man that was helping us didn't seem to have a good grasp of how to do his job. While we were there a number of people came in and left because they could not get service. Our base rental cost was $9.00 a day. Not bad we thought. Then add a driver, insurance, and a non-working GPS and the bill for our stay was up to over $600.00! Ok, give us our car and we'll be on our way. Get out to the car with our luggage and of course it's a right hand steer. I had specified that we wanted the steering wheel on the left. Go back into the office and let them know it wasn't what I asked for. I get another car, a Kio Rio that looks like it got into a fight with a very big cat. (all scratched up). After recording all of the dings and scratches we're on our way. Two days into our use of the car the GPS we rented would not work. Turns out the power outlets in the car had no power! I called Budget as soon as we discovered the problem. They wanted me to drive back to the office (1 hour each way on MY gas dime) so they could check it out. After no little discussion I got them to agree to check it out when I turned it in and then take it off my bill if they found it to be inoperable. When we checked in the girl said since we didn't bring it back mid-week that she would have to charge us for the whole time. {:( After another lengthy discussion I got them to agree to take it off the bill. Last thing: the gas needle was just a sliver off of full. She said they would have to charge us for refueling at 1/8th of a tank empty which was 2 gallons. Do you know what they charge for 2 gallons of gas if they have to put it in? $16.50/gallon!! (that's $32.00 for the math challenged like myself) I jumped in the car drove to the corner and put in 3/4 of a gallon (all it would take) for a whopping $3.00. All I can say is the obvious: I will never rent from Budget again. And I would not recommend that any of you do either.

Details
After waiting 30 mins to get my car( (I'm a fast break customer) the car was filthy smelled of stale cigarette smoke and wet dog. When I asked for a different one because I didn't want to put my Grandbabies in that dirty car I was told I was out of luck there were no more cars then waited another 20 minutes to get out of the gate! I am so disappointed and I dissatisfied with Budget car rental at Seatac Rental Facility!!! I DO Not recommend it!

Horrible customer service at the 800 # and face to face with reps at the local office. Paid $100 more than the price quoted. Rip off and felt that a scam was going on. If there was a choice for no stars in the rating, I would have chosen that one.

I am extremely disappointed in the way I was deceived by the agent on a recent car rental in Columbus Ohio. When I check in at the desk the agent indicated they have me in a KIA Soul, he made no mention that this vehicle carried a $5.00 a day upgrade over the vehicle I originally requested. Shame on me for taking the desk agent' word that while I was completing the rental agreement I was accepting the terms and conditions of the rental, but in reality I was agreeing to the upgrade charge. The agent made no mention of an upgrade charge. In my opinion your counter agent's action boarder on being unethical. .

Budget Rent a Car LV gave away my booked minivan

On Mar 26, 2016, I went to pick up my reserved minivan from 2 months ago. I am travelling with a 2 toddlers (1 year old and a 2 year old). Basically, due to spring break, Budget rented out all their minivans for high price. The manager offered me 2 upgrades which was a Ford F-150 and a Chevrolet Tahoe. Those are not upgrades to me, they are gas guzzlers that don't fit my needs. She tried me make me feel that I was wrong and that Budget was already doing me a favor. Then, they offered me a full size car at 10% off their current rates. When I booked the minivan, it was 3 times the price of a full size car. So, they were trying to give me a downgrade of a car as well as ripping me off on the rental price. Instead of offering me 2/3 off the rental price which would have only matched the price 2 months ago when I booked it, they gave me 10% off the current rate. I wasted over 1 hour there and my kids were hungry and tired. In the end with me being very upset, they gave me a Kia Sedona minivan. On my Costco contract, I reserved a Toyota Siena. In the past, they have told me that a Toyota Siena is a higher grade van than a Kia or a Dodge. I was just too tired and just took it. I can tell the van has been parked there for awhile because the engine was cold and beside it was parked another Toyota minivan. Basically, they had the minivan all along and was probably trying to rent it out for a higher price to another customer due to spring break. When an airline bumps you off a flight because they oversold at high prices, they give you a free flight next time plus they put you on the next flight for free. In this case, they tried to take away my reservation and tried to take more money for a full size car. In the end, I still got a downgrade of a minivan and wasted over an hour. This made my 3 day vacation with two young toddlers miserable. I book from Costco because it is a large reputable company and I thought the same for Budget until now.
