Budget Rent A Car - How does €78.94 suddenly become €94.63?

Hired a car for a couple of weeks at Bilbao (Spain) airport. The cost of the hire was prepaid, but I was asked for credit card details so they could charge me €78.94 for a full tank of petrol. As it happens, the car stayed in my (lock-up) garage the entire time, so they got an almost full tank of gas back from me. When I saw my credit card statement, they had taken €94.63. No explanation. For €15.69 it isn't worth making a fuss, especially as I would have to do it in Spanish and in Spain, but it is the principal that they stole money from me. I will never use them again.

Budget Rent A Car in Concord, North Carolina - Just Know You Pay More when You Return the Car

I went on line and rented a car from Budget Rent A Car. Everything was added tax and other things. I returned the car with a full tank of fuel, but the lady said it wasn't full, I had to waste my time go to a gas station (lucky not to far away) stuffed one gal. of gas, ran it over. Got in the car the gage still did not read full. I put up so much of a fuss when the lady checked the gas gage, she said OK it's full. She still charged $35.00 for some tax I've never heard of. Believe me you will not just pay the original price. Good my Budget Rent A Car! Lost another customer.

Budget Rent A Car in Buffalo, New York - No accountability for franchisee incompetence

Rented car in Buffalo to drive to NJ. Weather caused flight cancellations. Told Budget franchisee we would be making 2 stops in NJ, with final stop near Princeton. He says 'no problem' and locates a Budget office where car can be dropped off. My co-worker arrives at this destination and is told they cannot locate contract in their system. Turns out franchisee in Buffalo erroneously listed Newark as final destination on contract. Budget in Princeton says 'return car to Newark or face $700 fee'. WTF! Snowstorm still under way in NJ. Driving dangerous. Call Budget national customer service and they say 'we can't help you'. Only Buffalo guy can resolve this and he cannot be reached. Budget "customer service" is a misnomer. It blows.

Budget Rent A Car - Priceline + Budget = Rip off!
I rented a car through Priceline and the best bet was from Budget. Priceline charges you $11 per day for insurance. When I went to pick up the vehicle the price for the rental was much more - so I cancel the transaction. Now I see on my credit card $33 charge for the 3...

The contract states that unless you have full coverage on your personal vehicle you are required to purchase their insurance. Would YOU let a stranger drive YOUR car with no insurance????

Budget Rent A Car in Las Vegas, Nevada - Bent Over and Sedan-omized

Don't let my humorous title fool you, I am actually pretty *** furious. My recent trip to Las Vegas was an important one: it was a chance for me to reconnect with friends and family I hadn't seen in over a decade, a chance to revisit my childhood and show my new wife where I grew up, where I spent my time and all of the great things that only ex-locals know about. This trip was our one-and-only chance at a honeymoon, and that's why I booked my rental car with Budget. And not only did I make my reservation with Budget and did so over the phone so there would be no confusions, I followed it up with THREE additional phone calls just to verify the reservation, the prices we were quoted, and anything else that needed to get taken care of before we landed. My rental, just as the rest of the vacation, needed to go smoothly. I start off by asking the woman about a cheaper vehicle I saw featured on the website, to which she laughed and said that vehicle was actually more expensive than my reservation. (Okay, webdeals, I get it - that wasn't important.) However, I was quoted (multiple times by multiple people AND their website) a flat $200.00 deposit on my debit card and $198.00 for the six days I needed the vehicle. Not a bad deal, I thought. I am then informed that Budget doesn't like debit cards. "Okay, well, every conversation I had with Budget involved me specifically asking about debit cards since I don't like, use or own credit cards." This is where I was told that there would now be an ADDITIONAL deposit on top of my original deposit. Okay, so at this point I'm looking at something like a $600 deposit instead of $200.00. I'm pissed, I tell the woman it's ***, but I have no choice - it's just going to hurt the vacation a little bit. Oh, but guess what - the $198 I was quoted was incorrect as well, it's now going to be this OTHER ridiculous amount, something like $700, and this is before the deposit charges are added on. And now they want to run my credit and all this other stuff THAT I SPECIFICALLY ASKED ABOUT, NUMEROUS TIMES, EACH PHONE CALL, AND WAS SPECIFICALLY INFORMED, NUMEROUS TIMES, EACH PHONE CALL, THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE AND I WOULD HAVE NO DIFFICULTIES WITH RETRIEVING THE RENTAL VEHICLE I WAS COUNTING ON.So, after I grit my teeth as my $398 rental somehow ballooned into over A THOUSAND DOLLARS, she comes back with some *** report that says Budget doesn't want to rent to me anyways and that I need to leave. So in our time in Vegas, I DID NOT get to reconnect with friends and family I hadn't seen in over a decade, I WAS NOT able to revisit my childhood OR show my new wife where I grew up, and our entire honeymoon was spent confined to the Strip and our hotel room. This was a bait-and-switch *** from the get-go and they did everything they could to lull me into trusting them, just to try to drain the marrow from my bank account once they were in the position of power. I have emailed them, Yelped my review and am right now on a web-wide-rampage spreading the story of what they tried to do and how they screwed up my honeymoon. Next stop: their Facebook page.

Budget Rent A Car in Dulles, Virginia - Rip off in extra costs added at car return

At car return, having just filled gas tank to full, one mile away from Dulles Airport, my wife returned the car whilst I prepared to check in. We were trying to get on an earlier flight to UK, so she was in a hurry. The rental employee assured her all was well and rapidly entered the credit card details passing on a receipt folded from view. We ended up getting charged an extra £ 120 -- $ 180, [7 day rental] for various charges including " fuel level received less than full"...this last confirms the scam as there is absolutely no way the fuel could have less than overfull ! DON'T USE BUDGET !!!

Budget Rent A Car in Sacramento, California - Total rip off

Rented a car for 3 1/2 days even took an upgrade and insurance. Flight plans changed returned the car about 16 hours EARLY. Original price for all was $185. Because I was EARLY they wanted to charge me over $450 saying I broke terms of agreement for being EARLY. I didn't even ask for a refund just wanted to pay my bill agreeing to pay out the contract even though I was EARLY. After arguing for about a half hour they stated the best they could do was $235 still $50 more than agreed upon again for being EARLY. Had a flight to catch so paid it to get out of town. Total rip off

Budget Rent A Car in Doylestown, Pennsylvania - Misleading rip off of a company

I scoped out rental cars before deciding to go with them, found a coupon that should have been 20 percent off, rented a " midsized car" and was overcharged due to their " fine print" because we paid with a debit card. We were given a mid sized vehicle ( a Mazda 3) we realized that it was categorized as an economy size car on mazdas website, this was after none of our stuff fit in the car like a good midsized car should. We were on a budgeted vacation so when we figured out that we were charged an additional 200 for renting the car we freaked. Customer service seemed to have an answer for everything but didn't really offer any solutions or appeasements. They just kept saying well I'm sorry you aren't happy yet did nothing. Oh and the coupon was apparently "up to 20 percent" but the actual amount wasn't listed. So here we are thinking we are getting 20 percent off, a mid size rental which turned out to be an economy and overcharged 200 because we used a bank card. So much for being on a budget while using budget. They suck. They said well you should have read the fine print. I said a customer shouldn't have to ask, their staff should better inform their clients. Well a big old F U budget. I will never use or recommend you again.

Budget Rent A Car in New York, New York - Budget Rental Car rip off

My wife and I rented a car from Budget on Dec 20th, 2012 from Austin Airport and drove straight to San Antonio with a final odometer reading of 108 miles total trip length. We were quoted at a rate of $85.87 and when we returned the vehicle, the final amount on our paperwork as also $85.87 but our debit went through at $415.87! That is $330 more than our final paperwork. Called, Budget, no answer, Wife finally got a hold of someone in the San Antonio office but told her she had to try the Austin one - no luck. So budget is great about taking your money and that was not agreed upon and even NOT what their paperwork shows. Mistakes, I understand. Not fixing a mistake that is clearly their i do NOT.
